Battle Beasts

Battle Beasts is a line of action figures released in 1986 by Takara in Japan and distributed by Hasbro in the West. Each figure depicts an anthropomorphic animal in armor , equipped with a weapon and an elemental symbol (Fire, Water, or Wood) on its torso, which could be revealed by rubbing a thermal sticker. The game's principle was based on a combat system similar to rock-paper-scissors , where Water beats Fire, Fire beats Wood, and Wood beats Water .

Although the line enjoyed some success in the 80s and 90s, it never reached the popularity of other similar franchises. An attempt at a revival took place in 2012 under the name Beast Saga , but it was not very successful. Today, Battle Beasts is mostly prized by nostalgic collectors.
